Year 6
Year 6 is an exciting and memorable final year at Bushfield. While children prepare for their SATs tests in the spring term, we are passionate about ensuring that learning remains engaging, enriching and fun right up until their last day with us.
Our inspiring curriculum brings history, geography and science to life through topics including World War II, where children take part in VE Day celebrations and cooking activities, as well as a visit to the RAF Museum. They explore the fascinating world of wolves, discover the weird, wild and wonderful features of Planet Earth, dive into the mysteries of the deep as explorers of the abyss, and learn about the Vikings, including a visit from a realistic Viking visitor. Children also investigate the impact of the Industrial Revolution on Britain and the wider world.
Following SATs, children enjoy a range of exciting, themed Maths projects, embark on a residential trip to Bournemouth, and begin preparing for the transition to secondary school. Throughout the year, we encourage independence, resilience and leadership, helping every child to leave primary school with confidence, unforgettable memories and a lifelong love of learning.
