Year 4

Welcome to Year 4, where children continue to grow in confidence, independence and maturity as they embark on their second year at Bushfield. Having successfully settled into school life, children move into the main school building and take on new challenges, responsibilities and opportunities for learning.

Our exciting curriculum takes children on a journey through time and around the world. They explore the achievements of the Romans, discover what life was like in Victorian Britain, and delve into the fascinating ancient civilisation of the Mayans. Children also learn about the remarkable stories of polar explorers, bringing their learning to life through a memorable Polar Experience Day.

In Geography, children develop their understanding of the United Kingdom and learn about the importance of rivers, including a local field trip that allows them to experience geographical fieldwork first-hand.

Reading and writing are enriched through the study of much-loved British stories and authors. Children enjoy classics such as Paddington and The Railway Children, while a special visit from Mr Wonka himself helps immerse them in the magical world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, inspiring creativity and a love of literature.

Throughout Year 4, we encourage children to be curious, ambitious and resilient learners. We strive to create a welcoming environment where children feel valued, develop lasting friendships and enjoy memorable learning experiences that inspire a lifelong love of learning.
