School Governors
The Governors are parents, staff and members of the community. We work in a strategic role with the staff as 'critical friends' to discuss and monitor all aspects of the school's life: its ethos, curriculum, teaching, sports, arts, staffing, finance, premises, quality of school dinners... you name it! Andrea Curtis (Headteacher)
"I have been teaching in MK since I qualified 17 years ago. I spent many years at Two Mile Ash School as deputy and then, in 2005, Interim Headteacher for 4 terms. I have considerable knowledge of best practice in primary teaching and learning, and supported its development in several schools. I have advised nationally on assessment and led the only MK based Graduate Teacher Training Programme in the primary sector, qualifying over 100 teachers. I remain passionate about education and open to new ideas and learning. I fully believe in the power of education to change and improve people’s lives, and continue to be inspired on a daily basis by the positive energy and collective commitment that comes from empowering the whole school community… and, I’m proud as punch to be Bushfield’s Headteacher!" |

Simon Buckingham Shum (Chair / Parent Governor)
"I've lived in Wolverton since 1996, and joined Bushfield governors in June'07, prior to which I served at Radcliffe. The oldest of my 3 children is now at Bushfield. I became a governor because I wanted to understand how schools work these days, and to help Bushfield prepare its pupils for lifelong learning in a fast changing world — our pupils will be doing jobs that don't even exist yet! I work at the Open University on the role of the Web in the future of learning. Please stop me if you want to chat!"

"I have lived in Wolverton and New Bradwell for over 10 years. I have 3 children, 1 in Bushfield 1 in Wyvern and 1 soon to be attending the PreSchool. I have always been interested in learning and over the past 4 years through my work, setting up an interactive science centre, have been involved in working closely with schools. I am very glad to have been offered the opportunity of becoming a governor and look forward to being able to help the school and the children excel at the challenges that face them in the future."

Kate Smith (Parent Governor)
"I have been involved with education for 15 years. I currently work at the Open University and am a firm believer that children should find passion and enjoyment in learning whether it be in art, sport, singing and dancing or micro-biology. I feel really privileged to be part of the governing team and like others, am keen to help out with the current processes of running the school with a view to the future, and am learning new things about it every day."

Jake Yeo (Community Governor)
I am a Dad to two prospective Bushfield pupils. I remember the teachers, lessons and after school clubs that inspired me at my junior school. I am really excited to be able to support Bushfield to inspire others. As a governor, I hope to help the School engage and equip our pupils to become rounded, confident young people who love learning and fulfil their potential. I never really left education, and now work in the Strategy Unit of The Open University. I also live, and play and coach cricket in Wolverton.

Rebecca Myrie
I have lived in Wolverton since 1999 when my husband and I moved from London to be nearer to our families. We have since started a family of our own and our two children have been born and brought up here. It is a fantastic place to live and we love the unique spirit and diversity of people and activities available.
I work as Corporate Responsibility Manager at Audi UK; my role involves looking at how Audi can be a 'good neighbour' and play an active role in the communities it's part of. I am looking forward to using the knowledge and expertise I have gained through my work to further embed engagement between Bushfield and the community of Wolverton.
I believe that the positive influence of a good school extends far beyond the school gates. There are some incredibly exciting things going on at Bushfield and the passion and dedication of staff, pupils and governors benefit everyone who lives and works in Wolverton. |

I have lived in Wolverton with my family since 2007, but have been in the area for most of my adult life, working in Wolverton works for 25 years. I have one son in year four at Bushfield, all my other children have now left school.
I am now retired, and would like to put some of the skills that I gained within the Trades Union movement, making a safer work place, into my work as a governor, helping the teaching staff at Bushfield continue making the school a safe and happy place to learn and grow. |

I am honoured to have been given this opportunity and look forward to having a proactive role within our learning environment, and am pleased to be running the multimedia after school’s club on a Monday.

| Becoming a Governor... |
Being a governor is a great way to get involved in Bushfield's life, but to help run a school you do need to have some time to give! You'd be committing about an evening/week to do a good job: training (1-2/term), governors meetings (2/term), and you'll be part of at least one sub-group (2/term—Premises, Curriculum or Resources). Plus 1-2 visits/term to see first hand what's going on in the school.
Contact: Please get in touch with Andrea or Simon through the school office if you would like to chat further about getting involved. |
